Digestate
Digestate is a biogas plant co-product. It is created through the fermentation of organic manure and a mix of residual flows from the agro-food industry and agriculture.
These residual flows contain valuable ingredients for energy production and the improvement of soil quality. Thanks to fermentation, the digestate is enriched with nutrients, containing, for example, a relatively high amount of mineral nitrogen. By processing co-products, digestate contains relatively fewer bacteria, fungi and weed seeds compared to other organic manures. Digestate can be processed in a variety of ways, one of which is by separating it. As a result, it has various manifestations, such as a thick and thin fraction. In addition, the NPK value (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) differs between the different digestate products.
