Open day Family Bom

The Bom family opens its doors on 14 October during the open day. The family runs a closed pig farm with 430 sows and 4,000 fattening pigs. They are expanding the farm in Zwinderen with a shed for 1,800 pigs (Better life star). During this day, you can visit this shed.

What is there to see?

• Newly built fattening pig house with large groups (Beter Leven 1 ster), meets Maatlatzame Veehouderij;
• Expansion possible through additional emission measures in existing house via air scrubbers;
• Computer-controlled dry feed installation with liquid by-products on the nipple (35% of ration);
• Happy Feeder: roughage dispenser with dosing via CDI;
• Fully self-sufficient in energy through solar panels and heat recovery from air washer with heat pump;
• Air intake with counter-rotating valves;
• Climate control system with fire signalling;
• Spray cooling;
• Covered delivery area for pigs.
