Digestion in a manure digester

Sustainable biomass is playing an increasingly important role in our economy. Organic co-products make a major contribution to the transition from an economy that runs on fossil raw materials to one that runs on biomass as a raw material.

In a manure digester, bacteria convert organic matter in manure into biogas under oxygen-poor (anaerobic) conditions. Manure fermentation is also called mono(manure) fermentation. The raw materials that are converted to biogas in a manure digester consist of one product or raw material, usually manure. Manure digesters can therefore mainly be found in agricultural businesses.

By digesting manure, not only is sustainable energy generated but emissions are also reduced. In addition, the fermentation of manure produces digestate. Digestate products are sustainable, high-quality organic fertilizers that are very suitable for agriculture, horticulture, and cattle breeding.

At Looop, we have various organic co-products that are suitable for processing in a manure digester.

Sustainable biomass from co-products

At Looop, we have various organic co-products suitable for different digesters.

Organic co-products play a vital role in the transition to a fossil-free society. Besides the manure digester, there are other digesters for generating sustainable energy. Read more about them here:

Not only do we valorize co-products for renewables, but we also give them new purposes, for example, in pet food, as animal feed, and as a substrate for insects.
