Komercon and Looop have partnered to process and distribute co-products and residual streams, which are no longer suitable for food, feed, or pet food, more efficiently and sustainably as bio-based raw materials and streams for anaerobic digestion.

By working together, the two companies can optimize logistical processes surrounding the supply of residual streams and biomass. Leveraging each other’s expertise and networks ensures higher quality and consistency in product supply. While Looop specializes in liquid residual streams, Komercon brings in-depth expertise in biomass and strong connections to the latest technologies and strategic partners worldwide.“Our collaboration enables us to amplify the impact of our joint efforts toward a more sustainable value chain,” says Bart Oosterbosch, Business Developer Procurement at Looop.

Process optimization and strategic product expansion

The collaboration between Looop and Komercon emerged from a series of exploratory discussions centered on a shared vision of the role of sustainable energy in the circular economy. Through this partnership, Looop has taken a significant step toward professionalizing the renewable energy sector, which will lead to more efficient logistics for digestion plants and other sustainable energy solutions. The two companies complement each other by utilizing their extensive networks and import-export capabilities, contributing to a broader operational scope. This results in streamlined supply chains and an expanded product portfolio through demand- and supply-driven collaboration projects.

“The partnership between Looop and Komercon reflects our shared vision of sustainability and circularity. By combining our networks and expertise, we strengthen our positions within the sector and create more efficient logistical processes and new opportunities in the renewable energy value chain. This collaboration underscores our mutual commitment to innovation and growth within the circular economy,” says John Bouterse, Managing Director at Komercon.

The partnership has also led to participation in the Platform Bio-Economy (PBE), of which Komercon was already an active member. Within this platform, valuable insights are shared, and inspiration is exchanged. PBE represents companies and other stakeholders involved in producing, trading, and using bio-based raw materials for various applications, including chemicals, materials, energy, transport, and services.
