After more than seven intensive and impactful years, Dick Kroot will officially bid farewell to Looop on July 1. Since taking on the role of Managing Director, Dick has made an indelible contribution to the development and positioning of Looop as a leader in the circular economy.
Dick joined Looop in August 2017 with a clear mission: to prepare the organization for a sustainable future. Under his leadership, the transition to the name and identity ‘Looop’ took place in January 2021. This transformation symbolized a broader strategic direction: contributing to a world without waste by valorizing co-products from the food and fermentation industries.
In recent years, the sector has undergone significant transitions in terms of sustainability, regulations, and chain responsibility developments that came with considerable challenges. With his many years of experience in the agrifood sector, Dick brought the ability to navigate a constantly changing landscape. “It’s precisely these ongoing changes that made my role as Managing Director so fascinating. They forced us to stay sharp, think ahead, and truly mobilize as an organization,” Dick adds.
Over the years, Looop has grown into a vital link in an increasingly circular supply chain. “The strength of Looop lies not only in its mission, but above all in the close collaboration with a broad network of partners. Without their trust and engagement, we would never have come this far,” says Dick Kroot. “I want to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the network of passionate and dedicated partners with whom I have had the pleasure of working over the past years.”
That external connectedness is also reflected within the organization. Throughout his time at Looop, Dick has been fully committed to the development of the company. “Not only in prosperous times, but especially during challenging periods,” reflects Paul Slits. “His ability to lead, connect, and persevere has been of great value to the organization we have become today.”
One of the most tangible results of his leadership is the culture that has emerged under his guidance — something Dick is particularly proud of. “We now have an enthusiastic and driven team that works every day with conviction toward our inspiring circular mission,” says Dick. “It’s wonderful to see how everything has come together in an organization that is ready for the future.”
